The Olivet Boys And Girls Club - 1099 Words

The Olivet Boys and Girls Club is a positive place for kids. It allows kids to build leadership skills while interacting with their peers and staff. You can join the Olivet if you are between the ages of 6-18, and with an easy payment of $15 for the academic year. The Olivet is run by caring staff to help you every step of the way if you are needing help. For example if you would need help with your homework, the staff will be there to help. They also have fun activities for you to participate in; like a basketball team, art club, and Keystone/Torch club. Everyone has many stories to tell at the Boys and Girls Club, this is my basketball journey. I have been a member of the Olivet Boys and Girls Club for nine years; starting at nine. Throughout those years, they have taught me the many things that I put into play today. Spending most, if not all of my time at the Olivet’s, I tend to call it my second home. My mother used to always yell at me for not being home all the time. I just loved being there all the time. Through all the support of the Olivet family, I have been able to overcome many obstacles. For example, many may think that because of my height I would have picked basketball as my go to sport; however, that was not the case at all. Luckily, I had a unit director who would not take no for an answer and kept pushing me. Mrs. Deja Harris (Ms. Dede) was my unit Director for the perk unit that I was at.
